DeMarco is another of the second wave of Quality pioneers, and like many of the originals,
began his career with Bell Telephone Laboratories. He is a prolific author, who has effectively
translated many of the quality lessons learned in the pure manufacturing environment into the
world of Information Technology. As such, he represents a unique blend of the two worlds.
His ground breaking book, “Peopleware”

, co-authored by Timothy Lister, takes the human
element identified by Juran and Herzberg and extrapolates it into the world of Information
Technology projects. This followed his more technical book, “Controlling Software Costs:
Managing Schedule and Estimation.”
