In our lives there will be many failures and accomplishments. What you make of them is what they make of you. Many of us develop our skills from these accomplishments and failures. We make habits of our experiences and plans for our future.
In my life I have learned who and what I am. I have become what others have made of me. I have learned from the experiences that God has put me through and I've grown to become a strong individual. Through life we encounter people that allow us to see what's beyond ourselves. We learn how everyone can be so alike but yet so different. We share our thoughts with each other and make of those ideas what we want.
In this class I have learned many ways of looking at life philosophically. Even though I have never sat down and talk to anyone about these certain beliefs of mine, I feel like I already knew all the things that were told to me in this class. This being a class about high performance professional skills offered a lot more than just that.
I learned to value myself in a different way. I learned, to an extent, how to accept some of my reality. Something that was there about me that I just didn't want to see. The Firo-B, the Decision Style inventory, the setting my goals, the comparing my experiences with my classmates is what gave to me a lot more than I can express. This class has been a lot more different than any class I have ever taken. I defined my goals and even learned what Dr. Boulgarides thought about my goals. He may not have agreed with my goal of happiness but he let me know that that wasn't a reason for me not to continue to pursue it. Goals are not measurable. And I should not allow myself to believe everything everyone tells me. I'll listen to others but when it comes down to believing what I want, I will believe what I want regardless of what anyone else thinks. My purpose of existence is indeed to pursue happiness.
