The aimofthisworkistoproduceacompositepowderasa fluorescent inkfordigitalelectrophoto-
graphic printing.Threebenzoxazolylandbenzimidazolylcoumarinderivativedyesareusedas fluor-
escent dyesthatareincorporatedintopoly(styrene-co-acrylicacid)usingeco-friendlyemulsion
aggregation (EA)approachesinseveralamountswith final applicationof fluorescentlaserprintingink
called toner.Fluorescenceanddaylightspectrophotometryisusedforinvestigatingtheemissionand
reflectance propertiesof fluorescent toner.Itwasfoundthattherelationsbetweenemissionof fluor-
escent tonersandtheamountofdyesarenon-linear.Particlesizeanalysis,scanningelectronmicroscopy,
differential scanningcalorimeterandthermalgravimetricanalysiswereusedtostudythesize,shape,
morphology andthermalpropertiesof fluorescent tonerparticles.Resultsverifythatthepolarityofthe
dyesandtheircompatibilitywiththeenvironmentcouldaffecttheshapeofthe fluorescent toner.In
addition, theresultsshowthatthe fluorescent tonerproducedbytheEAmethodhasappropriate
characteristicscomparingtoanindustrialtoner.
