The cabinet has approved the Interior Ministry’s request to share the photo IDs of Thai citizens with 22 other state agencies for law enforcement purposes.
Deputy government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on June 3 that the approval means these agencies can view the photo IDs of Thai nationals in the database belonging to the Interior Ministry’s Department of Provincial Administration.
Agencies working on security issues need more than just the date of birth and registered residence of suspects for a wide range of investigations, officials said.
