Although we all need good medical care from time to time, it is obviously better to remain healthy for as long as possible. With this in mind, doctors encourage us to eat a healthy diet, but they also encourage us to take as much exercise as possible.
It is often difficult for people to fit physical exercise in to their busy lives Many of us work long hours and, although we might want to involve ourselves regulary in a sport, this is not always possible.
Some people manage to find the time to attend a sports centre and, perhaps play a game of squash. Other like to get up early and go for ajog and people walking their dog often meet early-morning joggers. Those who prefer walking as a from of exercise sometime take up power walking.
Other again like to exercise in the privacy of their own homes and either do their daily dozen or spend some time excercising on their exercise bike or rowing machine. Many people have such items of exercise equipment in their own homes these day. Sadly, many more buy such items and never use them!
Weight-lifting is another from exercise which can be done at home, especially by men who wish to become more muscular. Weight can be bought at a sports shop and many rather slight men regularly pump iron in the hope of seeing early results.
However, many people who wish to work out in order to keep fit do so at a local gym. Until relatively recently, most of us assocaiated tho word gym with our schooldays. Now more and more gyms are opening and people are rushing to join them.
Some people, especially women, join an exercise class, especially one at which aerobics is taught. They feel that they are more likely to go a class which they have joined than to attend the gym regulary and use the apparatus such as the step machine or the treadmill.
There are some, both men and women, who join a gym, often paying quite a lot of money to do so, and hardly ever use it. They frequently even spend a lot of money on lycra sportswear and expensive trainers and then never wear them.
Other, having joined a gym, spend a great deal of time there and do so much exercise that it amounts to over exercise. They go for the burn and sometimes end up exhausted. This is obviously not a good thing. With exercise, as with most things in life.it is best to practice moderation.
