Although TTAD of -linolenic acid was enhanced by feeding Ca-salts of flaxseed oil compared to feeding either whole
flaxseed or a mixture of whole flaxseed and Ca-salts of flaxseed oil, there was no benefit of flaxseed supplementation on
apparent transfer of -linolenic acid from diet to milk as there was no difference among flaxseed treatments. As the use of
calcium salts of Ca-salts of flaxseed oil did not allow a large modification in milk fat composition (Côrtes et al., 2010), the
cheapest flaxseed product will be recommended to incorporate in the dairy cow diet.
