I think it's not only me who have never seen this before ... This is one type of snack (originally from Southern Part of Thailand - Nakornsritamraj Province) called 'Kanom-La' ขนมลา -- It's made from Rice Flour, Sugar, Honey, Egg, and Oil. Anyway, after I searched for information, it found out that 'Kanom-La' is not a normal snack -- but in fact, it's a Buddhist ceremony on 10th month of the year for relatives who passed away (represents clothes for the passed away). Nowadays, we don't need to wait for only that period as we can find it anytime.
The reasons why this was called 'Kanom-La' were so many stories -- Firstly 'La' came from 'Ka-La' กะลา which means coconut shell as from the things and action that they need to put the flour liquid in coconut shell (in the past) for frying on pan. Noted that today (as seen in the picture), most of people use a kind of aluminum tin instead. Secondly, 'La' could came from verb of putting oil in pan which in Southern was called 'La-Maan' ลามันAllow me to introduce 'how to make Kanom-La' in Thai as below (of course, this came from wiki) ...
Anyway, in short, it requires time starting from marinating flour for 2 nights. Even the patience on frying in big pan by pouring flour to make it like small web -- make sure it's like silk or fish net. At present, there's a new series of 'Kanom-La' due to a changing of flour mix to make it more crispy called 'La-Krob' ลากรอบ as you can see in these picture as when the flour net is cooked they use round stick and fold it to be stick as below.
