Researcher-administered questionnaires
Researcher-administered questionnaires usually generate the highest response rate of any questionnaires, because you approach your subject and you complete the questionnaire by asking the questions and filling in the document according to what they tell you. The most obvious example of this is the market researcher working in the street – if all of you avoidance techniques fail! As you can probably guess from your own response to people who approach you unsolicited in the street, this method is not the best way to win people over; it may not even be legal unless you have applied for and received the relevant permission. The most ethical and practical population can be found, request permission to engage in the data collection and wait patiently for your designated sample to appear. You usually have to make more than a single visit to the location and you will have to work out when you should visit in order to reach your optimum sample size and composition.
