By placing all respondents into one of two categories—Not Acceptable or Acceptable—we were able to do a cross tabulation between these two categories and whether or not respondents’ company had, or did not have, a written code of ethics. Using a Pearson Chi-Square test we found that there was a statistically significant relationship. (Sign. = 0.001)
In Figure 2 it can be seen that 57% of respondents who judged the situation described as ‘‘Not Acceptable’’ also worked for a company having a written code of ethics. This compared to a smaller 47% who did not have a written code of ethics.
Conversely, 43% of respondents finding the behavior ‘‘Acceptable,’’ reported their company had a written code of ethics, while the remainder of this group (53%) indicated their company did not have a written code of ethics
