The quality of family communication and interaction with the family structure was assessed with Parent– Adolescent Communication Scale. This scale is a self– reported scale comprising of two subscales—mother adolescent and father adolescent communication scales—Each subscale has 20 items and uses a 5-point Likert scale (strongly disagree [1] to strongly agree [5]) Cronbach’s alphas were 0.87 in the original scale (Barnes and Olson, 2003) and 0.86 in this study.
