exhibited hypertrophy, aslarge parenchymal luteal cells have
been shown to increase in size as the CL develops (4, 40).
Thus, although similar changes in ovine luteal fresh weight
and cellular composition have been reported by others (4,
36,41), our data extend these observations by demonstrating
a continual linear increase in luteal fresh weight and DNA
content along with maintenance of a relatively high LI (-5%
on day 12) until after luteolysis is initiated (i.e. through day
12 of the estrous cycle).
