Principal growth stage 2: sucker formation
A mature pseudobud has numerous axillary bud primordia
and root primordia. When flower bud differentiation
occurs, some dormant axillary buds are successively germinated
to suckers (210–299). The time after flowering is
considered the optimal period for sucker formation. The
number of suckers is associated with cultivated varieties
and plant growth and decides the number of plantlets for
the following year. However, excessive number of suckers
can influence the yield in this year.
