evaluating bioactive compounds in tropical
fruit of Brazil noted that the highest values in polyphenols were
Myrciaria dubia (1176 mg GAE/100 g) and Malpighia emarginata
(1063 mg GAE/100 g), being these values lower than those found
in X. americana.
There are reports of errors in the application of
the Folin–Ciocalteu method used for the quantification of
polyphenols, these happening because of the reactivity of the
Folin–Ciocalteu reagent with other compounds such as vitamin C
, which can generate a overestimation of
the results.
