Cut and remove rope and wire from the top 2/3 of the rootball. At least 2/3 of the burlap shall
be removed from the tree pit. The remaining wires should be pulled back and the burlap
adjusted to prevent the formation of air pockets. Backfilling mixture shall be loose and friable,
and not frozen. Soil shall be firmed at six to eight inch intervals. All tree pits are to be filled
with topsoil or backfill and made level with existing conditions.
