Pattaya City celebrates Songkran on the 19th of April. There are extended days of the Pattaya Songkran festival, called “Wan Lai” in many provinces in Thailand.
The big party! The beach road and all adjacent roads are closed to traffic, creating a 3 mile long water fun road with thousands of people attending, all soaking each other and taking part in the fun.
Pattaya’s Songkran is called “Wan Lai Festival” taking place a week later than the rest of Thailand -- from 18 to 20 April 2015. During the day, join the flock of travellers at Bali Hai Pier, Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach to enjoy the country’s best by-the-sea splashing scene. It is also recommend offering food to monks, pouring scented water on Buddha images, to building sand pagodas on the beach to bring good fortune to your life.
Songkran Pattaya 2015 will most likely start as early as the 11th April and peaks on the 19th. There are certain areas that are more popular or avoidable, depending on your preference! Some foreign people book their holidays to Thailand specifically to play Songkran in Pattaya. The craziest location has to be beach road around the Soi 7 and 8 areas, but saying that on the 18th and 19th it gets pretty crazy all along the beach road, Walking Street, pretty much the whole city!
It is definitely something to experience and getting soaked isn’t such a bad thing as April is often the hottest time of year in Thailand.
