The results revealed that a runaway board temperature can appear for an average power density of 170kW=m3 and cause a risk of burning. However, it is also possible to dry a board of 50mm thick from 150 to 5% in 11 h with a high final quality by using an air flow at 90C for both dry bulb temperature and dew point and an average high-frequency power density at 77kW=m3.
This last configuration shows the great potential of high-frequency technology for continuous on-line drying of softwood boards thinner than 50 mm.
