The novelty of this research lies in integrating knowledge
management and quality management, both tracks of engineering
management and systems engineering, and demonstrating the
effectiveness of a KM/QM strategy through quantitative empirical
research. The fundamental objectives of quality management
and knowledge management are the same since the goal of both
is to improve a firm’s performance by creating organizational
knowledge (Linderman, Schroeder, Zaheer, Liedtke, & Choo,
2004). The primary stakeholders of this research are in the field
of engineering management, especially knowledge management
and quality management, and in the field of systems engineering
associated with performance and efficiency improvements. The
stakeholders will be interested in the research findings since the
integration of knowledge management and quality management
can improve a firm’s performance. The authors will research
existing literature on knowledge management and quality
management. Through empirical research, the effectiveness of a
KM/QM strategy is determined.
