Based on this study, most Thai indigenous vegetables and fruits
available from southern part of Thailand contain small to moderate
amounts of macro-nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. However,
several and especially mon-pu and young cashew leaves, contain
relatively high amounts of antioxidants and exhibit potent antioxidant
activity as assessed by ORAC and FRAP. The information of
the nutrient composition and other bioactive ingredients in the
indigenous vegetables can be added to food databases and used
to develop and implement their intake among the Thai population
and in other Asian countries.
