Materials and Methods
A 37-item questionnaire on providers’ knowledge, attitudes,
and postpartum practices regarding diabetes prevention
for women with a history of GDM was developed
by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) in collaboration
with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC). The questionnaire required approximately 15 min
to complete, was reviewed by subject matter experts for
face validity, and was piloted with five OB/GYNs, five
CNMs, and four family practitioners. The piloting phase
identified questions that were confusing, problems with
skip patterns, additional response choices, and grammatical
errors. Additionally, questions that required further explanations
were identified. The questionnaire was finalized
according to responses from the pilot including clarification
of wording and skip patterns and modifications of
response options.
