Organizations can easily operate under a set of norms and values that are contrary to the desires of those
affected by internal and external governance. Change under these circumstances may require an examination
of the authoritarian presuppositions and a willingness to engage in an organizational dialectic. This dialectic
may suggest better ways to effect change. This dialectic may look at rituals where policies and practice occur;
the validity of these policies and practices in meeting operational goals; and the reality of the values and norms
that are affecting the organization.
