Intrinsic cognitive load relates to the difficulty of the subject matter (Cooper 1998 ; Sweller and Chander 1994). More specifically, material that contains a large number of interactive elements is regarded as more diffucult than material with a smaller number of elements and/or with a low interactivity. Low interactivity material consists of single, simple, elements that can be learned in isolation, whereas in hight interactivity material individual elements well understood in relation to other element.
