Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? On Nov. 13, Kendall Jenner took a page from Justin Bieber’s book and deactivated her Instagram account, effective immediately. Suddenly, instead of pics showcasing the 20-year-old’s uber-glam life and star-studded circle of friends, the screen simply reads, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”
While she hasn’t given a definitive statement as to why she chose to bow out from the photo sharing app, she did get a lot of backlash earlier this fall when she posed for Vogue España dressed like a ballerina. (It turned out that many professional ballerinas didn’t like that so much.) For her part, Jenner defended the shoot, taking to her blog to post some thoughts.
“With my Vogue Spain shoot, I didn’t even know I was going to be a ballerina until I went into hair and makeup,” she explained. “I never said I knew ballet and I didn’t practice beforehand. I just show up to do my job!” A few months have passed since that incident, however, so it may not be related to this departure. After all, during a recent interview with Allure, she admitted she sometimes felt the all-consuming nature of being on social media.
