Similarly with significant development from childhood to adulthood we tend to lose our self-centeredness and find satisfaction in the discovery of the significance and meaning of the universe and, with it, the very existence and experiences of interdependence, solidarity and responsibility. The experience of individuation becomes the stimulus for the emergence of personal drive. We experience a growing tendency to transcend ourselves and to find our place in the world and participate interdependently in society. Interdependence means the style of human relationship characterized by willingness to influence others and be sensitive to them, the tendency to provide and receive support, to trust others and to trust ourselves as we define ourselves in relation to others, and to see ourselves not as solitary but as linked to others. Thus the impulses to know and to love motivate our behaviour.
