Five values of working and resting heart rate (measured at the interval of 1 minute each) were
averaged to work out average heart rate.
Average Heart Rate = Average Working Heart Rate – Average Resting Heart Rate (Increase over base)
The respiration frequency per minute was calculated by counting the number of respiration cycles
per minute from the expirograph. One respiration cycle represented one upward and downward deflection on
Kymograph paper representing inspiration (upwards deflection) and expiration (downward deflection).
The percent reduction in grip muscular strength was calculated from the following formula:
