The consensus from LAMP demonstrations indicated itsdifficulty to use in the field, and a need for experienced personnelto do the test and interpret results. Moreover, the surveypointed out that the BioRanger will only be cost effectiveto conduct a high volume of tests over several years due tohigh equipment costs, and when accuracy is important.Infrequent use of BioRanger will be expensive. In contrast, the results from grower demonstrations and take-home usage of AgriStrip and Pocket Diagnostic Kits by 27 growers inWestern and Highland New York indicated that these kitswere easy to use and had potential for on-site fire blight detection. The growers mainly preferred the Pocket Diagnostickit because of its ease of use and reading results was clearer.
