In mid 1999, Buckman Laboratories made a decision to migrate the online discussion forum from Compuserve to a company-managed intranet website to accommodate the surge in daily traffic on the network. The intranet site was given the name K'Netix, short for the Buckman Knowledge Network. Nine servers support the company's Intranet and forums were built on newsgroup-based technology using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. Rather than storing SOP committee material on paper, as it was a decade ago, Buckman has shifted the knowledge to an Intranet.
