As a results of this study, 7 pilot laboratories, has been studied for one year (Jan-Dec 2009). There are 1,630 types of chemical use in the pilot laboratories with 1,586 types of hazardous chemicals and 44 types of non-hazardous chemicals according the KMUTT chemical segregation system as shown in Table 1 and Figure 1. The hazardous waste management showed 9,988 liters of liquid waste and 3,311 kilograms of solid waste generated within the pilot laboratories in one year as shown in Table 2, Table 3 Figure 2 and Figure 3, respectively. 35 laboratory staffs have attended safety training course. Proper safety equipments and personal protective equipments (PPE) have been provided. The result of basic risk assessment and safety audit in 8 pilot laboratories have been done and indicated that 72.22 % meet a standard safety workplace, 98% passed safety training course, 80 % used PPE for their work and 100% have their yearly medical check according to the hazard risk. The result points that staff in 8 pilot laboratories has low risk according to personal working. The development of safety audit system in laboratory reduces some accidents and health impacts to laboratory staffs. To make safety for all who work in analytical laboratory. This system will be apply and maintain to all laboratories in KMUTT later.
