The definition underscores the notion
that there is large variation amongst children diagnosed
with CP. Children with CP invariably show deficits in
development of postural control. The exact nature of the
deficits is only known to a limited extent. Most studies on
postural muscle activity in children with CP assessed
relatively small groups of children, dealt with school-age
only, and only included children with mild to moderate
forms of the disorder. Current knowledge is outlined
below.
