A concern with relying on supervisors and coworkers as trainers is that although they may perform ately, they may not be able to instruct others. They may also teach others their own shortcuts rather than correct pro- cedures. On the other hand, immediate supervisors or coworkers may be more knowledgeable than anyone else about work procedures. If coworkers or managers are to be trainers, they should receive instruction on how to train and should be given sufficient time on the job to work with trainees.
