In this work, simulations were carried out to show how the
use of CARTIM can assist in minimizing traffic congestion
and reduce the average travel time. To demonstrate that, we
created a simulation scenario that is more similar to an actual
urban environment. The network simulation tool used was
OMNET++ [11] [13]. The traffic and mobility simulator used
was SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility) [2] [14]. The
VEINS (VEhicles In Network Simulations) [12] [15] framework
was also used in this work for VANET simulation. Table
III presents a summarized table of the settings used in the
simulations, as well as the main communication parameters set
on VEINS. The transmission power on V2V communication
of 0.61 mW (Table III) results in a transmission range (r) of
about 150 meters. V2I communication range (r) was estimated
to be 300 meters.
