Most aluminum(Al) is present in the aluminosilicate formin mineral
soils, producing only small amounts of the soluble form that can affect
living organisms. However, the solubilization of the Al present in these
soils is increased under acidic conditions and may cause the concentration
of soluble Al species to achieve levels that are toxic to organisms [1].
Aluminum toxicity is a major limiting factor in production and crop
yields in many acidic soils throughout the world, with the inhibition
of root growth identified as the main symptom of toxicity.
