had severe abdominal cramps in June and when I went to the ER they did an appendectomy. The pain came back about 3 weeks later, and after flexible sigmoid colonoscopy it was diagnosed as diverticulitis. The doctor saw pouches, inflammation and spasming of the colon. My intestinal symptoms, such as bloating, general abdominal pain, constipation etc., all disappered at the end of the summer. However I have continued to have a somewhat sharp pain in my lower left quadrant for the last 3 months. I went back to the doctor yesterday and he did not have much to say. At the end of the appointment I asked about antispasmodics and he prescribed Dicetel. I suspect that he just did this to get me out of his office. I have not been able to find much information on this medication. My mother-in-law, who has been prescribed Dicetel for IBS, had a nasty reaction to this medication. She was advised to take it wheneven she felt symptoms coming on, and once when she took it with very minor symptoms she experienced vomiting and dissiness. My doctor said that I would need to be on 150 mg of Dicetel for 4-5 weeks before we could tell if it was working, which I found surprising. Does anyone have any experience with Dicetel?
Thanks
