It's not really that they don't care about any of those (except maybe environment), but it's more the fact that they don't make it as accessible to people who normally wouldn't be able to. Take health for example. The US has some of the best doctors, researchers and medical facilities in the world. However, the health insurance doesn't make it accessible to people who cannot afford it. Without money or a job, you can live out in the street and no one would care. You don't find that anywhere in Europe. Here in Europe, pretty much anyone can get access to some form of medical backing, especially if you have certain medical conditions. Anyone can go to the ER in Italy. Not so in the US.
The same can be said about education. The US has some of the top universities in the world, a classic example being Harvard, but those without money can't go. Some people in the US never went to university because of this. But that's only as far as Higher education is concerned. Secondary Education in the US doesn't even begin to compare to GCSE or IB. I remember when I was in Saudi Arabia, there was an American school close to our compound but there was also the British School (where I went) and many people in our compound complained how the quality of the American school paled compared to my school.
