Two more recent commentaries on the stone have provided different views. Dr. de Casparis, the foremost living scholar in the field of ancient Indonesian writing, has given the preliminary judgement that the style of the script may date from an earlier period, such as the tenth or eleventh century, thus the Tang-Song transitional era when Luo-yue existed. Only one or two of the words were immediately decipherable, but these seemed to be in the Old Javanese language.
