Singapore’s offshore landfill may only accept inert wastes that
meet the relevant waste acceptance criteria, as described by the
Acceptance Criteria for Inert Waste Sites. In the criteria, inert waste
must comply with the following:
are insoluble, inorganic materials;
will not undergo any significant physical, chemical or biological
transformations;
will not dissolve;
will not burn.
The emissions of heavy metals, shown in Table 5, for Semakau
landfill are according to the classification of an ‘‘inert landfill”.
4. Impact assessment results
The EDIP (Environmental Development of Industrial Products)
2003 impact assessment method is used to generate the environmental
