Holidays and CeIerations
In 2004, South Africa held a celebration to honor the ten-year anniversary of free elections. As part of the celebration, the government asked everyone to “catch the rhythm of a nation.” An ad campaign showcased a special drumbeat. Kids and adu’ts all over the country learned the rhythm. They could catch the beat by snapping fingers, drumming, stomping feet, or clapping hands. The idea was to show thot South Africans could ioin together to celebrate and work together to change the country for the better.
