The leaves are important for fish feed, animal feed
and traditional medicine (Osagie, 1998). The crop is so
important that the Federal Government of Nigeria has
set up the Cassava Export Promotion Council to oversee
and regulate the export of cassava from Nigeria. However,
no effort has been made to control or manage
the enormous wastes arising from processing cassava
tuber into its various products, which are abundant
and available in all seasons. The economic utilization
of cassava tuber bark waste (CTBW) may not only provide
a solution to its environmental nuisance but will
create wealth and improve local economies.
