Waghor Aquarium & King Mongkut Memorial Park of Science and Technology, Waghor, Prachuap Khiri Khan province"
10 km south of the city of Prachuap Khiri Khan (about 15 km by car) in Khlong Wan subdistrict, Prachuap district in Prachuap province are the Waghor Aquarium and the King Mongkut Memorial Park of Science and Technology.
The Aquarium features a beautiful and impressive glass tunnel walk through the displayed rich underwater world. It’s general layout is neatly designed to enhance explaining the differences in the types of aquatic life on display. Written explanations are mainly in Thai language, though.
The nearby King Mongkut Memorial Park of Science and Technology commemorates the 2 years advance forecast of a total solar eclipse which was subsequently witnessed by King Rama IV at Waghor in 1868.
The park features several Thai language sections for the science education of children and young people, dealing mainly with astronomical topics. There is also a nice ancient steam locomotive exhibit and a butterfly garden. The park is far less well maintained than the Aquarium, though.
