n image analysis, using a series of multi-tempo-ral satellite images and aerial photos, was used tostudy the changes in the spatial extent of theimpact of shrimp pond wastes on mangrove forestdevelopment. Using aerial photographs of 20February 1995 and 2 July 2001, the total destruc-tive area could be delineated. The content of the1995 photo represented the original condition of the Pak Phanang mangroves, the 2001 photos theimpacted situation. All photos were rectified andgeo-referenced using commercial software (ER-DAS imagine)
