A closer look at the results revealed a clear division in the
types of drug calculations the nursing students and Registered
Nurses were able to perform competently, with both
groups being statistically significantly more able to perform
calculations for solids, oral liquids and injections than for
drug percentages and infusion rates. In addition, there was no
statistically significant difference between the nursing
students and Registered Nurses in their ability to perform
calculations for drug percentages and infusion rates but there
was a difference in their ability to perform calculations for
solids, oral liquids and injections, with Registered Nurses
being statistically significantly more able to perform these
type of calculations.
