Fruit treated with OA significantly suppressed the ethylene production during ripening at ambient temperature as well as cold storage in mango as compared to control fruit. This reduction in ethylene production in OA- treated fruit may be ascribed to inhibition of ACC synthase activity. Acc synthase plays a key role in ethylene biosynthesis and its inhibition restricts the production of Ethylene in various fruits such as plum and mango. Moreover exogenous application of OA also suppressed the ethylene production in banana plum and mango fruits
