telecommunications are subject to their own “Y2K” failures and interruptions.
● Business dependencies: Third parties on whom the provider relies may experience “Y2K” related-failures that would compromise the hospital’s ability to conduct its operations (e.g., drug and food suppliers).
● Computer systems: Medical information management systems, medical record and billing systems, networks, personal computers, and computer-controlled devices.
● Embedded processors: Non-programmable microcircuits “hard wired” into other pieces of equipment that may be critical to patient services or hospital operations, many of which include date calculations in their programming logic.
