School Buses
School buses with red lights flashing and a stop-signal arm extended (if equipped with a stop signal arm) means you may not pass. Stop immediately, regardless of the direction from which you approached the bus, and wait until the children have gotten off the bus and left the area. The red lights will then stop and the stop signal will retract, allowing you to proceed. The driver of a vehicle on a divided highway or multiple-lane highway need not stop upon meeting or passing a school bus that is going the other way.
