Some patients, however, might benefit from higher doses.
The therapeutic window of aripiprazole has not been defined
and the dose– concentration relationship of aripiprazole
exhibit extensive interindividual variability [31]. Psychiatrists
are not constrained by approved doses and can prescribe
any dose they deem appropriate, considering the patient’s
past response, adverse drug events, comorbidity and the
assumed efficacy of the medication for specific symptoms
[7]. Consequently, the observed prescribing pattern may reflect
either a rational approach to an inadequate clinical response
or the clinicians’ low confidence in recommended doses.
