The study used a quantitative, nonexperimental, ex post facto design to examine
the relationship between key dimensions of transformational and transactional leadership
69 styles (Bass & Avolio, 2004) and ethical leadership behaviors (Brown et al., 2005) of
public school administrators of an independent school district in a southwestern state. To
identify research participants for the study, survey methodology for data collection and
random sampling were used. Participants in the study were selected from the population
of campus administrators and central administrative personnel of the independent school
district. There were a total of 129 campus administrative administrators, 248 principals,
and 352 assistant principals (HISD, 2012).
