Southcorp, whose businesses include not only wine, but packaging and water heaters, has experienced an average 15 per cent growth in annual profits over the past three years, primarily due to continued strong demand for Australian premium wine in both its domestic markets and abroad. Southcorp Wines main offshore market in Britain, where Australian premium wines now outsell French wines in the $ 12 to $ 25 price bracket. Overall, Australia is the second biggest supplier of wines to the UK market behind France, with 15 per cent of the market, and Southcorp Wines has 25 percent of that share. Nearly 50 cents of every dollar of Southcorp Wines sales are now earned offshore. Southcorp Wines is also looking to make further inroads into the largely untapped US market in the future.
