The muscle activity and thumb electrogoniometer data across the four tasks (A, C–E) are presented as group means ± one standard error in the text, figures and tables (n = 24). As these data was approximately normally distributed, repeated measures analysis of variance methods were used to compare the different tasks ( Fig. 2, Table 3), one model for each parameter. Fixed effects included in the model were task, gender, group and all interactions (Random Effects-Mixed Model in statistical program JMP). Where significant differences were found between tasks, a Tukey‘s HSD post-hoc analysis was used to identify tasks that were different from one another.
