He hired a Canadian consultant to assist him and two months later finally decided there was no way in the near future he could duplicate his European success. His chocolates were pure. And because there were no additives (unlike North American chocolates which contain wax to keep them from melting) they required special chilled transport to preserve their flavor and prevent melting. Further, they had to be displayed in a tightly controlled cool display counter, one operating from a refrigeration unit. Unfortunately, there were no ready combinations of transporter companies with cooler (not refrigerated) units nor were there the appropriate display counters. Plans to build a new plant were scrapped.
