Average behavior rates (events/h) and activity budgets
(percent of observation time in each state) for each individual
was calculated for each of the conditions. Data collected
during the daylight hours with the collars worn were compared
to data collected during the daylight hours when the
collars were not worn. An 8 h segment of daylight data from June 23rd, 2010 was removed from further analysis due to
the unexpected introduction of pellet-enriched dirt piles.
This event greatly biased the rate of digging behavior.
Data collected during the evening hours with the collars
worn were then compared to data collected during the
evening hours when the collars were not worn. The dataset
was determined to not be normally distributed after checking
for skewness and kurtosis. Due to this, non-parametric
