German fashion designer Jil Sander is known as the Queen of Less. That descriptive characterisation doesn't need much explanation. She founded her label in 1968 in Hamburg, but success wasn't immediate. It was only in the 80s when her clean and simple designs attracted the attention of a significant international following. The fashion house managed to keep it's signature aesthetic during the constant disagreements between the designer and Prada, the majority shareholder, which led to Jil Sander leaving the brand on multiple occasions. Raf Simons was one of the designers that filled in the vacant spot between 2005 and 2012. You can find more info about the brand's operations in this Jil Sander Brand Profile.
